Responsibilities

• Designing, installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining communications hardware and software used in various fixed wireless communications networks, including P25 communications systems; installing, maintaining and repairing 12-volt mobile communications equipment, including radios, MDT computers, chargers, lights and sirens, alarms, antennas and related equipment; providing technical assistance and support to communications system users; performing routine inspections, testing and preventive maintenance of communications equipment; maintaining accurate equipment, maintenance and operational records; and responding to communications system outages and other emergency situations as needed.
• Systems supported may include microwave, base station, multiplexing, fiber, alarm and other related communications equipment.

Requirements

• An Associate degree or equivalent in a related field and three years of job-related experience required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems required.
• Familiarity with radio programming software and communications test equipment and an FCC license preferred.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Texas driver’s license.
• Must be able to provide expedient on-call support for emergencies during evening and weekend hours.
• All applicants will be subject to a criminal history check.
• A conviction for Class B misdemeanor and above is disqualifying.
