Job Summary

Own the community engagement portfolio by building strong partnerships, driving student participation, and tracking impact across programs and events.

  • Partnerships and Programs: own relationship building with community groups and manage service projects with a clear line to university goals.
  • Student & Faculty Engagement: sustain student connections and boost participation through mentorship, internships, and learning experiences.
  • Measurement & Reporting: collect participation data and share impact with leadership to inform future initiatives.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, nonprofits, government agencies, and businesses to identify collaboration opportunities.
  • Build and sustain ongoing relationships with students that facilitate and enhance the student/university connection. Serve as a liaison between EWU students, faculty, and community organizations to facilitate volunteerism, internships, and career-centered learning projects.
  • Represent EWU at community meetings, events, and service initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase student and faculty participation in community engagement programs.
  • Organize and manage community-based programs, events, and service projects in alignment with the university’s engagement goals.
  • Provide administrative assistance for the office of community engagement, including front desk coverage coordination.
  • Be attentive to the EWU Aspire program, ensuring students gain real-world experience through mentoring, leadership, and direct engagement with K-12 students.
  • Track participation of students and community partners, and the impact of engagement programs, collecting data to assess effectiveness and inform future initiatives.
  • Assist with grant writing and fundraising efforts to develop community engagement programs.
  • Develop promotional materials, newsletters, and social media content to highlight community engagement efforts.
  • Manage the community engagement website and maintain up-to-date information on available service opportunities.
  • Provide reports and presentations to university leadership and stakeholders on community engagement impact.
  • Work in partnership with university colleagues to enhance student participation and engagement and community impact efforts.
  • Interpret university policies, procedures, and requirements for students.
  • Represent EWU on campus and community committees

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in community development, social work, public administration, education, or a related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in community engagement, outreach, program coordination, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience managing programs, events, or volunteer initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
  • Be student-centered with a passion for student success.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Familiarity with service-learning and civic engagement best practices.
  • Bilingual fluency, with Spanish preferred
