Job Summary
Lead district-wide communications by directing media relations, Spanish-language outreach, and cross-functional collaboration to engage school communities.

- Ensure senior-management updates and clear reporting while meeting education-communications needs.
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Support the District's press office and media relations team in effective and successful communications initiatives and campaigns that are District priority.
- Serve as the anchor and host for HISD Hoy, Houston ISD’s Spanish video platform for district communications. Candidate must communicate comfortably and fluently in Spanish, including speaking, writing and reading.
- Work with social media team to coordinate coverage and highlight student and employee achievements on District platforms.
- Coordinate development, implementation, and monitoring of two-way communication and community engagement strategies designed to improve communications with school communities regarding strategic initiatives and priorities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication of coordinated efforts.
- Coordinate with team members to develop and deliver accessible, timely, relevant, educational, and engaging messaging and materials in all forms - internal and external, written and oral, printed and digital collateral, social media and website, and general outreach, including presentations, and community events that directly impact school communities.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and professional growth.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and other stakeholders on departmental activities, achievements, and challenges.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree
- WORK EXPERIENCE At least 8 years working in a communications role. Experience in education preferred.
