The University of Tennessee Southern is a four-year public institution, and part of the University of Tennessee System. Formerly Martin Methodist College, originally founded in 1870, UT Southern (established in 2021) sits on a historic campus located in Pulaski, TN, in the beautiful hills of southern Middle Tennessee. The university is home to the UT Southern Firehawks and is convenient to both Nashville (70 miles to the north) and Huntsville, Ala. (40 miles to the south). The University of Tennessee is a statewide system of higher education with campuses in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Martin, Memphis and Pulaski; the UT Space Institute in Tullahoma; the UT Institute of Agriculture with a presence in every Tennessee county; and the statewide Institute for Public Service. The UT system manages Oak Ridge National Laboratory through its UT-Battelle partnership; enrolls about 50,000 students statewide; produces about 11,000 new graduates every year; and represents more than 400,000 alumni around the world.
