Publishing House (VPH) is an independent publishing project building a growing catalogue of books and the wider creative world of Elyria. We are looking for an *Independent Marketing Partner* who wants the opportunity to help grow a creative publishing brand from an early stage. This is not a salaried employment position. It is an independent, commission-based contract beginning with an initial three-month trial, with the opportunity to develop into a longer-term collaboration if successful. *The Opportunity* We are not looking for someone simply waiting for a daily list of instructions. We want someone who can review VPH, our books, Elyria and our existing online presence and develop their own marketing vision. You will be encouraged to identify audiences and opportunities, propose campaigns and determine how you believe VPH can turn awareness into readers and sales. Once the overall direction is agreed, you will have significant independence in how you execute the marketing strategy within agreed brand, intellectual-property and financial boundaries. Your strategy may include: * Social media marketing and audience development * Creative digital campaigns * Book and series promotion * Content creation * Reviewer, creator and community outreach * Website and SEO recommendations * Testing new platforms and promotional opportunities * Analysing campaign performance and improving strategy Our objective is not simply to increase followers. We want to build an audience and convert that growth into genuine readership and revenue. *Commission* The arrangement offers a *flat 20% commission on qualifying net VPH revenue actually received* from products included within the marketing agreement. Initially, this is intended to include qualifying VPH book royalties from: * eBooks * Paperbacks * Hardcovers, where applicable * Kindle Unlimited / KENP royalties The 20% commission is calculated from qualifying royalty/revenue actually received by VPH, *not from the retail selling price*. There is no sales threshold before the 20% rate applies. *Initial Three-Month Trial* The collaboration will begin with an initial three-month trial period. The same 20% commission applies from the beginning. Commission properly earned during the engagement remains payable when the corresponding qualifying revenue is subsequently received by VPH, including where platform payment schedules mean payment is received after the trial period has ended. At the end of the trial, both parties will review the arrangement. If successful and mutually agreed, the intention is to continue into a longer-term collaboration. As VPH develops, there may also be opportunities for the nature and scope of the role to evolve. *Who We Are Looking For* We are deliberately keeping the experience level open. You might be an experienced freelance marketer, an early-career marketing professional, a recent graduate, a marketing student looking to develop meaningful real-world experience, or someone who can demonstrate strong digital marketing ability. Years of experience are less important to us than creativity, initiative, commercial thinking and your ability to develop and execute your own strategy. You should be comfortable with digital and social media marketing, working independently, developing creative campaigns and using modern content-production tools. An interest in books, publishing, fantasy, world-building or creative brands would be particularly welcome. There are no fixed working hours. The arrangement is remote, and as an independent marketing partner you will organise your own working time and may provide services to other clients. *Support from VPH* VPH will provide approved marketing materials and appropriate operational access to resources reasonably required for agreed campaigns. These may include approved branding, published book covers, artwork, promotional materials and relevant marketing information. VPH retains ownership and administrative control of its intellectual property, publishing accounts, financial accounts and core digital infrastructure. No marketing expenditure is required or authorised without prior agreement with VPH. *How to Apply* Please submit your CV or LinkedIn profile and answer the following question: *After reviewing Val Publishing House and Elyria, what would you focus on during your first three months to build the audience and generate book sales?* We are not asking applicants to create a complete campaign or produce free promotional materials. We simply want to understand how you think. If you see potential in what we are building and believe you have ideas that could help us grow it, we would like to hear from you. Application question(s): * Are you comfortable with this being an independent, commission-based contract rather than a salaried position during the initial three-month trial? * Are you comfortable developing and executing your own marketing strategy without fixed working hours or daily instructions from VPH? * After reviewing Val Publishing House and Elyria, what would you focus on during your first three months to build the audience and generate book sales?
